Crochet Turtle Amigurumi Pattern

Materials:

  • Worsted weight yarn in green, brown, yellow, black, and white
  • Crochet hook size G/4.0mm
  • Fiberfill stuffing
  • Yarn needle
  • Stitch markers
  • Scissors
  • Safety eyes (10mm) or black yarn for embroidery

Abbreviations:

  • MR: Magic Ring
  • ch: Chain
  • sc: Single Crochet
  • inc: Increase (2 sc in the same stitch)
  • dec: Decrease (sc 2 stitches together)
  • sl st: Slip Stitch
  • st(s): Stitch(es)
  • rnd: Round
  • FO: Fasten Off
  • BLO: Back Loop Only

Turtle Head:

  1. Using green yarn.
  2. Rnd 1: MR, 6 sc into the ring. (6 sts)
  3. Rnd 2: inc in each st around. (12 sts)
  4. Rnd 3: sc, inc around. (18 sts)
  5. Rnd 4: 2 sc, inc around. (24 sts)
  6. Rnd 5: 3 sc, inc around. (30 sts)
  7. Rnd 6: 4 sc, inc around. (36 sts)
  8. Rnd 7-13: sc in each st around. (36 sts)
  9. Rnd 14: 4 sc, dec around. (30 sts)
  10. Rnd 15: 3 sc, dec around. (24 sts)
  11. Rnd 16: 2 sc, dec around. (18 sts)
  12. Insert safety eyes between rounds 10 and 11, approximately 6 stitches apart.
  13. Begin stuffing the head with fiberfill.
  14. Rnd 17: sc, dec around. (12 sts)
  15. Rnd 18: dec around. (6 sts)
  16. FO, leaving a long tail. Use the yarn needle to weave the tail through the remaining stitches and pull tight to close the hole. Secure and hide the tail inside the head.

Turtle Body (Shell):

  1. Using brown yarn.
  2. Rnd 1: MR, 6 sc into the ring. (6 sts)
  3. Rnd 2: inc in each st around. (12 sts)
  4. Rnd 3: sc, inc around. (18 sts)
  5. Rnd 4: 2 sc, inc around. (24 sts)
  6. Rnd 5: 3 sc, inc around. (30 sts)
  7. Rnd 6: 4 sc, inc around. (36 sts)
  8. Rnd 7: 5 sc, inc around. (42 sts)
  9. Rnd 8: 6 sc, inc around. (48 sts)
  10. Rnd 9: 7 sc, inc around. (54 sts)
  11. Rnd 10: sc in each st around. (54 sts)
  12. Change to yellow yarn.
  13. Rnd 11: sc in each st around. (54 sts)
  14. Rnd 12: Working in BLO, 7 sc, dec around. (48 sts)
  15. Rnd 13: 6 sc, dec around. (42 sts)
  16. Rnd 14: 5 sc, dec around. (36 sts)
  17. Rnd 15: 4 sc, dec around. (30 sts)
  18. Rnd 16: 3 sc, dec around. (24 sts)
  19. Rnd 17: 2 sc, dec around. (18 sts)
  20. Begin stuffing the shell with fiberfill.
  21. Rnd 18: sc, dec around. (12 sts)
  22. FO, leaving a long tail. Use the yarn needle to weave the tail through the remaining stitches and pull tight to close the hole. Secure and hide the tail inside the shell.

Turtle Legs (Make 4):

  1. Using green yarn.
  2. Rnd 1: MR, 6 sc into the ring. (6 sts)
  3. Rnd 2: inc in each st around. (12 sts)
  4. Rnd 3-6: sc in each st around. (12 sts)
  5. Begin stuffing the leg with fiberfill.
  6. Rnd 7: sc, dec around. (8 sts)
  7. FO, leaving a long tail for sewing. Attach the legs to the sides of the shell.

Turtle Tail:

  1. Using green yarn.
  2. Rnd 1: MR, 4 sc into the ring. (4 sts)
  3. Rnd 2-3: sc in each st around. (4 sts)
  4. FO, leaving a long tail for sewing. Attach the tail to the back of the shell.

Turtle Eyes:

  1. Using white yarn.
  2. Rnd 1: MR, 6 sc into the ring. (6 sts)
  3. Rnd 2: inc in each st around. (12 sts)
  4. FO, leaving a long tail. Sew the eyes to the head above the safety eyes or embroider the eyes with black yarn.

Black Spots (Make 5):

  1. Using black yarn.
  2. Rnd 1: MR, 6 sc into the ring. (6 sts)
  3. FO, leaving a long tail. Attach the spots evenly on top of the shell.

Assembly:

  • Sew the head to the front of the shell, followed by the legs on each side and the tail at the back. Secure all ends and weave them into the body.

Final Touches:

  • Embroider the turtle’s mouth with black yarn and add any additional facial features or decorations as desired.
