Granny Mushroom Pattern

Materials Needed

• Worsted weight yarn in desired colors (e.g. brown, red, white, green)
• Crochet hook size H/8 (5mm)
• Scissors
• Tapestry needle

Abbreviations

• ch – chain
• sl st – slip stitch
• sc – single crochet
• dc – double crochet
• inc – increase (2 sts in 1)

Instructions

Mushroom Cap

1. With brown yarn, make a magic ring.
2. Round 1: ch 1, 6 sc in ring, sl st to join. (6 sts)
3. Round 2: ch 1, 2 sc in each st around, sl st to join. (12 sts)
4. Round 3: ch 1, [sc in next st, 2 sc in next st] 6 times, sl st to join. (18 sts)
5. Round 4: ch 1, [sc in next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st] 6 times, sl st to join. (24 sts)
6. Round 5: ch 1, [sc in next 3 sts, 2 sc in next st] 6 times, sl st to join. (30 sts)
7. Rounds 6-8: ch 1, sc in each st around, sl st to join. (30 sts)
8. Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Mushroom Stem

1. With brown yarn, ch 2.
2. Round 1: 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook, sl st to join. (6 sts)
3. Rounds 2-8: ch 1, sc in each st around, sl st to join. (6 sts)
4. Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Mushroom Spots

1. With white yarn, make a magic ring.
2. Round 1: ch 1, 6 sc in ring, sl st to join. (6 sts)

Granny Square

1. With red yarn, ch 4, sl st to join into ring.

3. Round 2: sl st to next ch-2 sp, ch 3, 2 dc in same sp, [ch 2, 3 dc in next ch-2 sp] 3 times, ch 2, sl st to top of beg ch-3. (24 dc)
4. Round 3: sl st to next ch-2 sp, ch 3, 2 dc in same sp, dc in next 2 dc, [3 dc in next ch-2 sp, dc in next 3 dc] 3 times, 3 dc in last ch-2 sp, dc in last 2 dc, sl st to top of beg ch-3. (36 dc)

Assembly

1. Sew mushroom cap to center of granny square.
2. Sew mushroom stem to underside of cap.
3. Sew white spots randomly around cap.
4. Weave in all ends.
