Finished Size:
Approximately 4.5” wide and 19-21” in circumference (fits most adult heads).

Yarn: Size 6 bulky yarn in any neutral color (approx. 60-80 yards). Suggested: Bernat Blanket or a similarly soft and thick yarn.
Hook: 8 mm crochet hook
Other Tools:
- Scissors

- Stitch markers (optional)

The ear warmer is worked flat in rows to create a long ribbed rectangle, which is then sewn with a twist for style.
Use a stitch marker at the beginning of rows if needed for placement.
Adjust the length of the rectangle for a tighter or looser fit.

Foundation Row:
Ch 17 (this will create a 4.5” wide band; chain more or less to adjust).

Row 1:
Starting in the second ch from the hook, work 1 hdc in each stitch across. (16 sts)
Ch 1, turn.

Row 2:
Work 1 hdc in BLO across the row. (16 sts)
Ch 1, turn.

Repeat Row 2 until your band measures approximately 19-21 inches long when gently stretched.

Forming the Twist:
- Lay the band flat.
- Fold each short end of the rectangle in half lengthwise.
- Bring the folded ends together so they interlock like a “C” shape.
Sew the Seam:
- Using your yarn needle and a long tail of yarn, whip stitch across the interlocked ends, going through all four layers to secure the twist.
- Pull tight and knot securely.
Finish Off:
- Fasten off and weave in all loose ends neatly.
- Flip the ear warmer right-side out so the seam and twist look clean.

To add a little extra flair, sew a small leather or faux-leather tag near the edge of the twist.
Experiment with other chunky yarns in soft colors like gray, cream, or taupe for a cozy look.

Width: Add more chains to the foundation row.
Length: Increase the number of rows to fit your head snugly.
Yarn Substitute: Use a worsted weight yarn and an 6.5 mm hook, but adjust the row count accordingly.
